FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE On Saturday, March 8 at 3:00pm and 7:00pm at DeKalb County High School, award-winning and renowned comedian and magician, Scott Cantrell, along with local favorites and rising stars of magic, Devon Owens and Glenna Beatty will be hosting a fundraising show to support the DeKalb County High School marching band. The show is a full length comedy, magic, and variety show where roaring laughter and stupefied faces are guaranteed. Funny Money, as the show is called, is presented by Tenneco in Smithville, will be a 90-minute exciting and hilarious show featuring Scott Cantrell’s complete award-winning show including unbelievable magic and illusion, an incredible juggling routine, and a lot of audience interaction including Scott’s “death-defying” razor sharp knife juggling. The show will also feature DeKalb County Band member and rising star of magic, Devon Owens (11yrs old) with his magic partner, Ms. Glenna Beatty (12yrs old). The two will feature their award-winning “Tribute to Houdini” which is truly something not to be missed. Above and beyond all that, every child (12 and under) who attends will receive a free magic gift just for coming. There will be a drawing for a total magic prize pack filled with tricks and cool stuff. Concessions, magic sets, and tricks will also be available for purchase that evening as well and proceeds will support the DeKalb High School Band. Band Booster President Teresa Sullivan said “We’d like to thank the whole community in advance for coming out and seeing this show and helping out the boosters.” Sullivan also added “Tenneco has been very generous by being presenting sponsor. Without them, and sponsors like them, we could not do things like this.” The ticket price for this event is $10 per person, and you can get your tickets at the DeKalb County Band room at the high school or from any member of the band. There will be two shows on Saturday March 8, one at 3:00pm and a second at 7:00pm. The event will be held in the DeKalb High School auditorium and seating is limited so get your tickets now. A Brief Biography of Scott Cantrell Now Scott travels all across the country sharing his art at a variety of venues including schools, theaters, auditoriums, private events, and even at corporate business functions where he is always a spectacular hit! About Devon and Glenna GLENNA is 12yrs old and started magic simply to fill in and help out her cousin. After one performance, which won them their first award, she too was hooked. She is a member of the Tennessee Magical Society in Cookeville. Together Devon and Glenna are champion magicians. Awards include the Junior Division Talent show winners at the Putnam County Fair in Cookeville and Youth Stage Magic Competition at the Winter Carnival of Magic in Pigeon Forge TN with their tribute to "The Most Famous Magician Ever, Harry Houdini". They have been featured in the Smithville Review newspaper, The Middle Tennessee Times newspaper, The SYMbol news letter, for the Society of Young Magicians), MUM Magazine, and The Linking Ring Magazine. Devon and Glenna seem to be a force to be reckoned with in the magic community. It's the family bond that keeps them together and keeps moving them forward. |
